Plot summary
Five years after the Interstellar Alliance was founded, President John Sheridan and Mr. Garibaldi meet in deep space, where the first two prototype destroyers, Excalibur and Victory, near completion. Galen, a technomage, comes to Sheridan in a dream and shows him a world reduced to ruin. On Babylon 5, the alien thief Dureena Nafeel arrives seeking the Thieves Guild, which lets her work as long as she keeps its rules; Galen appears to her in sleep and advises her to pick her target with care. Galen then tells Sheridan that the Drakh, who once fought alongside the Shadows, intend to strike Earth, and hands him the descriptions of three people who will join the effort, warning him to keep his mission to himself.
