Plot summary
Bing Shan is China's top programmer. In modern-day Shanghai he designs a virtual reality basketball game, the first of its kind to be run by thought, with players directing the action using only their minds. Frank Miller, the boss of the company, wants the game brought to market quickly. Bing Shan, who leads the project, warns that a defect in the code could leave the computer and reach the minds of the people who play it; Miller pays no attention. Convinced the danger is real, Bing Shan sets out to hack into the game he built for his former American employer, which puts him in conflict with the law.
