Plot summary
Gwen sells cosmetic procedures at the Center for Advanced Health and Living. The pay is not enough to keep her daughter, Jules, in the elite school she wants for her. The center fires her, and the one other post offered to her is as an egg donor, since women are rapidly becoming infertile. Gwen asks her old employer, Fisher, to take her as one of the first subjects of a procedure that moves her consciousness into a new body, so she can keep her job by appearing more youthful and racially ambiguous.
