Plot summary
Interviews make the case that Moscow interfered in the 2016 American presidential election and that people around Donald Trump had ties to Russian officials. The documentary also covers the life of Vladimir Putin, manipulation on social media, and the Cambridge Analytica scandal. The title comes from the term active measures, which Soviet and Russian security services, including the Cheka, the OGPU, the NKVD, the KGB and the FSB, use for political warfare meant to influence the course of world events. The documentary suggests that Putin has spent three decades directing covert political warfare, and production ran from May to September 2017.
