Plot summary
Calvin Fuller is fourteen and playing baseball for a Reseda team called the Knights when the ground opens under his feet and he lands in sixth-century Camelot. King Arthur and the wizard Merlin have waited for a savior Merlin foretold, and Calvin's arrival convinces them he is the one. Arthur dubs him Calvin of Reseda and welcomes him to court. The knapsack Calvin grabbed as he fell holds wonders the court has never seen: a CD player, a folding pocket knife and a pair of wheeled skates. He begins knight training with Arthur's best knight so that Arthur can keep his crown, and the fame he wins earns him the dislike of Arthur's advisor Lord Belasco. Katey, the younger princess, interests him too.
