Plot summary
Laura Brummels works as a reporter alongside a political regime, and the cooperation leaves her carrying guilt: a young boy died and she could have prevented it. The regime casts her out and sends her to Aquila, a prison no one leaves, where a monsoon arrives each year and drowns the inmates. Her cell holds a second prisoner, Joseph, who lived through the last flood. Since then he has searched for a way out before the next one comes, and he has found one: the ceiling stones of the cell can be removed. The work takes two people, so he needs Laura, who must choose between the revenge she wants and surviving with him.
