Plot summary
In 1983, a platoon of recruits is finishing basic training on a jungle island. A rumor spreads among the soldiers: a mad woman who lived on the island died at 23:59, and her spirit returns at that hour to haunt the camp. Tan, the platoon outcast, insists to his buddy Jeremy that the ghost comes to him each night, and Jeremy dismisses the idea, saying ghosts exist only in Tan's imagination. When the platoon sets out on a road march through the forest, Tan goes missing and is found dead by the river. The recruits read the death as supernatural, while their officer calls it an accident. Jeremy, who had laughed at Tan's fears, is not convinced.
