Plot summary
Sean Murdoch is the new identity handed to a captain with a drinking problem when the Proxate Corporation hires him to take a large ship on one voyage. Aboard, he learns the ship is a prison, and that its cargo is criminally insane inmates. Bombs have also been planted on the vessel. His relationship with the prison warden is acrimonious.
