Plot summary
Na Bo-ra is seventeen, practices taekwondo, and belongs to the broadcasting club at her high school in 1999. Her closest friend, Kim Yeon-du, is set to fly to the United States for heart surgery, but then announces that she cannot go, because she has fallen for a boy at their school she knows only as Baek Hyun-jin. Bo-ra promises to trail him, gather every detail about him, and write it all in emails. Yeon-du leaves. At school, Bo-ra keeps the boy in sight, and one day she overhears that he and his friend Poong Woon-ho intend to sign up for the broadcasting club, so she wins a place there as well.
