Plot summary
A voice-over sets up the trip: a mock Pentagon authorization sends him abroad to study other countries' social policies. In Italy, factory workers and executives describe paid holiday, a thirteenth salary and paid parental leave. In France he sits in an elementary school to hear about meals and sex education. Finland's schools assign almost no homework and no standardized tests. Slovenia's university charges no tuition, and German workers at a pencil manufacturer explain labor rights and co-determination. Portugal has kept May Day, a lenient drug policy and no death penalty. His tour also covers Norway's prisons, women activists in Tunisia and women in power in Iceland.
