Plot summary
The customers at a video store in a new town want horror films, and every so often someone asks for an adult tape. A couple run the store, and one woman arrives with her children to ask whether Blood Cult contains any sex. One of the owners cannot say whether the film has sex in it, but knows that the violence in it is graphic. The woman decides to rent it, saying that as long as a film has no sex, she considers it appropriate viewing for her children.

- Gary Cohen's idea for Video Violence came one afternoon when a mother asked him whether I Dismember Mama contained any sex; told it had graphic violence but that he was unsure about the sex, she rented it for her children. The same exchange appears in the film, about Blood Cult.
- Gary Cohen arranged to edit Video Violence over two six-hour shifts at a local access television station, but when the owner learned it was a horror film he reneged and allowed Cohen only two hours on the second shift.
- Once editing was finished, Gary Cohen shopped Video Violence to multiple distributors; only two responded, and he sold the rights to Camp Video because it was the only one offering to design the video box art.
