Plot summary
Joo Yeong-ju talks her way out of prison and onto a train, carrying handcrafted wooden ducks for her older sister's wedding. Across the aisle sits Hee-cheol, a village pharmacist traveling to propose to his girlfriend with his late mother's ring. A pickpocket lifts the ring, and Yeong-ju, afraid of breaking her parole, takes it back, misses the train and loses her bag. She follows Hee-cheol to his hometown, Yonggang Village, to recover it. His family sees the ring and takes her for his fiancée, and she plays along rather than explain. Hee-cheol comes home without having proposed, and the family and the town turn on him for abandoning a woman they believe is carrying his child.
