Plot summary
Hillary, Jan, May, Esperanza and Lytia are single mothers tied to the same private school, where their children's vandalism and smoking land the kids on probation and the parents on fundraiser duty. Hillary's ex-husband withholds child support; Jan carries a stressful publishing career; May writes journalism and dreams of a book while raising a teenage son and dealing with his drug-addict father; Esperanza keeps her boyfriend Manny hidden from her ex-husband Santos, whose money she depends on; Lytia waits tables and worries about her youngest son. At Hillary's house the five agree to organize the school dance and form The Single Mom's Club to support single mothers.
