The Secret Life of Words (2005) on Netflix

Plot summary

Hanna, a partially deaf Yugoslavian native, has worked for four years in a factory in Northern Ireland. Her boss orders her to take her annual leave, telling her that her diligence at work has offended her co-workers. In a restaurant she overhears talk of a need for a nurse, and she offers to take the job. The patient is Josef, a burn victim on an offshore oil rig where a fire has left him with severe burns and temporary blindness; the rig, awaiting an investigation, holds only a few workers. Hanna says little and keeps her own history to herself. Josef, despite his pain, jokes often, at times making sexual advances toward her, and she washes him and holds the urinal for him.
