Plot summary
Vincent Lubeck is released from prison on parole after his elderly mother pleads for him. He returns to work at the gas station run by his brother Johnny, and tension runs between the brothers. Johnny's fiancée, Rosa, sets out to reform Vincent, and he pursues her in return. Across the street, an armored car makes regular stops at the bank, and Vincent takes an interest in Eileen, a secretary there who knows the details of how the bank operates, drawing information from her. He looks up men he knew in prison and begins to recruit them as accomplices, using what a cellmate once told him about planning bank jobs.
