Plot summary
In Berlin, the unemployed actor Harry Frommermann wants to put together a German vocal group modeled on the American act The Revelers. He holds auditions and signs four more singers, Robert Biberti, Erich Collin, Ari Leschnikoff and Roman Cycowski, along with the pianist Erwin Bootz. The six call themselves the Comedian Harmonists and rehearse at length. Their specialty is imitating instruments, so listeners hear what sounds like a full orchestra while the piano is the only instrument actually played. Three of the six are Jewish.
