Plot summary
Galleria, Chanel, Aqua, and Dorinda sing together as The Cheetah Girls, performing at a children's birthday party in Manhattan. Galleria comes home to parents who scold her for skipping phone messages and for not walking the family dog, Toto; Chanel's mother is busy preparing for a date with her Parisian boyfriend; Dorinda works as a janitor at a community center. All four attend a performing arts high school, and they want to win the talent show, which no freshmen have done before. At their audition, Jackal Johnson, a famous alumnus and record producer, takes an interest in signing them. Galleria calls herself the group's founder and songwriter, a claim her bandmates resent, and her mother Dorothea hesitates before allowing a meeting.
