Plot summary
Robert Bridgestone, divorced, has his son Richie for a weekend at the family cabin high in the mountains. A hike after dark beneath a full moon brings an attack by something large and ferocious. The struggle sends the creature over a ravine's edge, where a wooden fence kills it, and Robert's arm is bitten. The recovered carcass is that of a human male. The sheriff cannot identify him and blames a deranged vagrant. Richie says a werewolf did it, and neither his father nor the sheriff accepts that. Richie's mother Sandy, worried by how firmly he holds to the story, asks Robert to see the boy's psychiatrist. Dr. Marderosian reads it as trauma and suggests that taking Richie back to the cabin, where he would find nothing out of the ordinary, will settle the matter.
