Plot summary
Pyo Jong-seong works for the North in Berlin, an agent whose name appears in no intelligence file. A weapons deal he is handling in a hotel goes wrong when unknown assailants break it up, and he escapes, finding conflicting evidence about why he was set up. Jung Jin-soo, a South Korean intelligence agent, investigates the failed deal and tries to identify the man at its center, unsure whether he is working for the other side or being sacrificed by his own. The failed sale draws in American and Israeli intelligence and terrorist networks as well as the two Koreas. Pyo's wife, Ryun Jung-hee, is a translator at the North Korean embassy, and Pyongyang sends Dong Myung-soo to look into the loyalties there.
