Plot summary
Henry Howard is a government scientist working on a serum that boosts strength and extends life. General Darwin has commissioned the project and refuses to let Howard marry his daughter Hannah until the serum proves successful. Howard plans to propose anyway, but on a subway ride a mugger takes his wallet and the ring. To hide the intended proposal, Howard says the thief also took a flash drive holding serum research. Meanwhile, the mad scientist Dr. Werner von Kantlove is destroying monuments and preparing to launch a rocket at the Moon. Desperate to show the serum works, Howard injects it into himself and turns into a giant purple humanoid called the Bulk.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Amazing Bulk (2012)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Director Lewis Schoenbrun was researching stock computer-generated imagery for a low-budget mockbuster of Spider-Man with a female protagonist; while discussing with a producer the idea of a comic book film full of green screen, he decided instead to make a parody of the Hulk.
- The project was financed by Schoenbrun himself: principal photography cost $6,000 over five days on a green screen stage in California, audio mixing cost $3,000, color correction $1,000, and another $4,000 went on CGI, software and its composer.
- All of the film's settings and transitions, as well as much of its imagery, are stock graphics and backgrounds taken from numerous websites, including eBay, Digital Juice, Inc., and TurboSquid.
- As a fan of Stanley Kubrick, Schoenbrun packed the film with references, including satellites in space reminiscent of 2001: A Space Odyssey and the characters Dr. Werner von Kantlove and his assistant Lolita, who allude to Dr. Strangelove and Lolita.
- James DePaolo of the website WickedChannel called The Amazing Bulk "The Room of superhero movies" and wrote that it is quite possibly one of the best worst films ever made.
- When YouTuber I Hate Everything posted a video mocking the film, director Schoenbrun responded warmly, telling the creator he welcomed the criticism because it gave independent films exposure, and the YouTuber thanked him for being a good sport.
- Shunning the convention that film productions should feature original music, The Amazing Bulk takes numerous works of classical music for its soundtrack, including pieces by Richard Strauss, Johann Strauss II and Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
