Plot summary
Fifty years after Leatherface's murders in Texas, the town of Harlow is nearly deserted. Melody, an entrepreneur from San Francisco, comes to sell its old properties to buyers who would remake the place as a trendy destination. Her younger sister Lila, an amateur photographer who uses a wheelchair, travels with her, along with their friend Dante and Dante's girlfriend Ruth. Inside a dilapidated orphanage they mean to inspect, they find Ginny, an elderly woman who says the building is still hers. The argument that follows is interrupted by a tall, silent man who appears from upstairs. Ginny collapses and is rushed toward a hospital, with Ruth and the man riding along. In town, an investor named Catherine arrives with a busload of potential buyers, and Lila meets Richter, a local mechanic.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Filming on Texas Chainsaw Massacre had already begun in Bulgaria when the studio, unimpressed with what was shot, fired directors Ryan and Andy Tohill; David Blue Garcia replaced them and started the production over, and none of the Tohills' footage was used.
- Shot in Bulgaria, the film had to pass for Texas; director David Blue Garcia leaned into making it look like West Texas near the Fort Davis mountains, and the crew built a replica Texas town, though there was not enough barbed wire to fully emulate the state.
- Producer Fede Álvarez said the production took an "old school" approach to filmmaking, using vintage lenses and practical effects for the film's gore.
