Test Tube Babies (1948) on Netflix

Plot summary

George Bennett and his wife Cathy want to start a family, but they have had no luck conceiving, and the distance between them has grown. Cathy looks for distraction at swinging parties and with another man, Frank Grover. George confronts her, and she answers that she feels incomplete without children. She is tested to learn why she has not conceived. George, who went with her, is tested as well, and the doctor finds that he is the sterile one. Their physician, Dr. Wright, proposes artificial insemination from a sperm donor, a choice that many people at the time considered scandalous.
