Plot summary

Claudio is the captain of Carrarese Calcio, and the club has won promotion to Serie B, the higher division. With his wife he opens the restaurant the two of them have long wanted, a venture meant to secure the family's economic future. He has been a leading figure at the club and at home. Then the club decides against renewing his contract, citing his age. The promotion he helped win arrives just as his playing career is ending, and the man who has been the team's reference point finds his certainties, on the pitch and in his household, beginning to give way.
