Plot summary
Billy Kirkfield is a ten-year-old with cancer who is sure he has just weeks left to live, and he wants to be remembered. Lucas Lamb and Howard Garvey are his best friends, and the three of them are the unpopular kids at school, where Jason Bound and other bullies cause them trouble. The friends decide to build more snowmen in a single day than anyone ever has. Too few people come to their first attempt, so they hang flyers, put up posters, and Billy gives a speech in the cafeteria. The principal supports them, the mayor agrees to come, and a news channel plans to be there for the count.
