Plot summary
Alex studies art and takes an apartment in a run-down New York City building from Lizzie, an older woman, hoping to persuade his girlfriend Lori to sleep over. The building's other young tenants, Roman and Nicole, take an interest in him, and Nicole makes her own interest plain. Roman invites Alex over for green pudding and a drink he calls wine, explaining that Lizzie makes the yogurt and that the wine comes from her dead father Zachary, an alchemist. Alex drinks it, and he and Nicole spend the night together. He wakes covered in slime, and his body has begun to change.
