Plot summary
In the kingdom of Charak, the coronation of Prince Kassim is disrupted when his stepmother Zenobia places a curse on him. Sinbad, a sailor and prince of Baghdad, arrives at the city under curfew to ask Kassim's permission to marry his sister, Farah. A man named Rafi offers him hospitality, and the meal ends in a poisoned crewman, an attack, and a trio of ghouls that Sinbad crushes beneath a pile of logs. Farah tells him the curse must be lifted within seven moons or Rafi, Zenobia's son, will take the throne instead. With Farah and the crew, and the baboon that is Kassim, Sinbad sails for the island of Casgar, where the alchemist Melanthius may know how to break the spell.

- The shimmering power source inside the Arimaspi shrine was made from dental floss: Harryhausen and his crew wrapped dozens of floss strands around a gauze cylinder, mounted it on a revolving mechanism in front of black velvet and pulled it out of focus.
- Ray Harryhausen planned a fight between the troglodyte and an Arsinoitherium, a two-horned prehistoric rhinoceros, ending with the beast dying in hot tar, plus a yeti battle in the arctic; the yeti was dropped in favour of a giant walrus.
