Plot summary
Sheba Shayne earns her living as a private investigator in Chicago. Her father, Andy, owns a family insurance company in her old hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. A group of thugs is trying to intimidate him into dissolving the company or handing it over, and Sheba returns home to confront them. Andy's business partner, Brick Williams, joins her in the fight, and the two revive the romance they had years earlier. When Sheba drives her father's car, the vehicle explodes and she is nearly killed in the blast. The local police warn her against continuing her investigation, but she chooses to persist.
