Plot summary
Cal is a 19-year-old gang member in Bristol who keeps his homosexuality hidden from the friends he runs with and from Nessa, the gang's controlling leader. His life holds drugs, casual sex and random violence. An online hookup with a stranger named Scott ends with Cal assaulting him and leaving him in the countryside. Cal's best friend is Jonno, and Nessa's manipulation keeps Jonno from saying what he feels. Nessa then orders the gang to rob Olivier, a student, and Cal restrains them, creating a distraction so Olivier can escape. He follows Olivier and apologizes with a ride, then persuades him to let him stay a few days, afraid of what Nessa will do. Olivier, attracted to Cal, seduces him.
