Trailer

Plot summary

President Vasily Petrovych Goloborodko has been in office for nearly half a year, and the economy is sliding: prices climb, the currency has lost value, and public trust is falling. To steady the country he needs a fifteen billion euro loan from the International Monetary Fund, which will come only if Ukraine passes reforms and anti-corruption laws. The Verkhovna Rada rejects those reforms. Mamatov, Nimchuk and Roizman, the oligarchs whose factions control parliament, offer to pass them in exchange for appointing a prime minister of their choosing, and Vasily refuses. He visits Yuriy Ivanovich Chuiko, the former prime minister arrested two months earlier on corruption charges, who offers compromising material on the oligarchs in return for full amnesty.
