Samajavaragamana (2023) on Netflix

Plot summary

Bala Subramanyam, called Balu, sells tickets at a multiplex in Hyderabad and supports his family on that wage. He has no patience for romantic love. His father, Uma Maheshwara Rao, has spent years chasing a bachelor's degree because his own father's will hands the family a large inheritance only once he graduates. Balu meets Sarayu through his father. She is as weak at her books as Uma and has supplementary exams to clear, so she moves into the house as a paying guest, and Balu takes charge of tutoring them both. Sarayu stirs in Balu a wish for romance he had set aside. Then comes a cousin's wedding, and Balu sets out to stop it so that the relationship he now wants survives.
