Plot summary
European Christians hold Jerusalem. Raynald of Châtillon commands the Crusader army, and he orders Muslim pilgrims slaughtered so that their caravans can be plundered. Guy of Lusignan, the King of Jerusalem, protests the killing. Saladin rules the kingdoms that surround the Latin state of Jerusalem. A convoy of pilgrims that includes his sister is attacked, so he prepares to strike at the Christians in the Holy Land. In his army serves Issa El Awwam, an Arab Christian.
