Biography

Virginia Fox was an American actress whose work in silent films covered the 1910s and 1920s. She was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, in 1902, with the family name Virginia Oglesby Fox. Her movie career began by accident when she was on vacation from boarding school. Fox went to Los Angeles to see a friend, and the two paid a casual visit to Mack Sennett's studio. Sennett hired her immediately, and she became one of the bathing beauties in his pictures. Fox then moved into leading roles in many of Buster Keaton's early films, including Neighbors (1920), a picture that was highly regarded. She left screen acting after that. Fox died in 1982.
