Vida Ghahremani
Biography
Vida Ghahremani was an Iranian-born American actress who worked in film and on stage and also wrote and taught. Born in Tehran, she entered movies as a teenager with the guidance of Khan Baba Motazedi, first appearing in Crossroad of Events in 1955 and in the 1958 film Storm in Our Time. Her role opposite Naser Malek Motiei in Crossroad of Events was known as the first romantic kiss shown in Iranian cinema. She earned a degree in early childhood development, worked at an institute for children and young adults in Tehran, and later taught creative theater and Persian in California, in Pleasanton and at the Berkeley Persian Center. She had a supporting part in Wayne Wang's A Thousand Years of Good Prayers (2007) and belonged to the Screen Actors Guild. She published Aroussi-e Khaaleh in 2008 and Safar-e Kaash in 2010, and in 2015 produced and acted in the stage work Isfahan Blues. She died in 2018.

A first
Vida Ghahremani played opposite Naser Malek Motiei in Crossroad of Events (1955), and their kiss was the first romantic one shown in Iranian cinema. During filming she was a teenager of about 16 or 17, and Shahdokht High School expelled her in her final year because of it.
Beyond film
Ghahremani took on both production and a starring role in the 2015 theater work Isfahan Blues, a piece inspired by the Duke Ellington Orchestra's 1963 tour in Iran, made with Golden Thread Productions and others.

As a teenager, Ghahremani started acting in films, guided by Khan Baba Motazedi. Her first credit came in 1955 with Crossroad of Events, and a 1958 movie titled Storm in Our Time followed.
