First role
In 1993, Travis Tritt took his first acting role. He appeared with Kenny Rogers, another country singer, in the made-for-television movie Rio Diablo.
A change of course
Tritt's version of the Eagles' "Take It Easy" reached number 21 in early 1994 and appeared on the tribute album Common Thread: The Songs of the Eagles. While making the music video, he asked the band, on hiatus over 13 years, to appear, and that reunion led to the Hell Freezes Over Tour.
Big break
Marty Stuart gave Travis Tritt the song "The Whiskey Ain't Workin' Anymore" backstage at the CMA awards show. Tritt's record producer Gregg Brown suggested they cut it as a duet, and it earned both men the next year's Grammy for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.
Behind the camera
Tritt's first co-production credit came on The Restless Kind, which he made with Don Was. He said he handled most of the vocal harmony alone, played guitar on "She's Going Home with Me," and contributed to the album's art direction.
