Biography

Sybil Seely was a silent film actress who performed in comedies with Buster Keaton. She was born in Los Angeles. She got her start at the Mack Sennett studio, first as a bathing beauty, and remained under contract there for the whole of her career. According to IMDb, she made her first appearance at 15 in an uncredited role in Her Nature Dance (1917). Sennett lent her to Keaton for four short films. The first was One Week (1920), where she played his bride and helped build a disastrous house. This became her best known part. Her calm screen manner, her skill at matching Keaton's pace, and her willingness to perform her own stunts led to roles in his three other two-reelers. She appeared in 23 films.
