Sven Nordin

Sven Nordin, born in 1957, is a Norwegian actor who has been with Oslo Nye Teater since 1981, where his stage work has ranged from Shakespeare to modern drama such as Tennessee Williams's The Glass Menagerie and musicals including Guys and Dolls. He broke through as a resistance fighter in the World War II mini-series Röd snö in 1985, and from 1993 to 1997 he played Nils in the sitcom Mot i brøstet, one of Norway's most popular. On screen he appeared opposite Robert Mitchum and Cliff Robertson in Pakten (1995) and played an arctic explorer alongside Kenneth Branagh in the television production Shackleton in 2001. That same year he played Kjell-Bjarne in Elling (2001), which drew more than 800,000 cinema-goers in Norway and became a hit in Sweden and Denmark as well, earning a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
