Biography

Stu Nahan was an American sportscaster who spent about three decades as a sports anchor in Los Angeles, working for KABC-TV, KNBC and KTLA, and also for radio stations KABC, KXTA and KFWB. Born in Los Angeles, he moved to Canada at age two and grew up playing ice hockey. He was a star goalie at McGill University and in 1946 signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs, who sent him to the minor-league Los Angeles Monarchs. In Sacramento he was a KCRA sportscaster and appeared as Skipper Stu on a children's show. Later, near Philadelphia, he hosted a children's program as Captain Philadelphia and called Philadelphia Flyers and Eagles games. From the mid-1970s he played sports commentators in films, usually as himself, including the first six Rocky movies, where he called the fictional boxer's bouts, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982). He received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2007 and died that year.
