Steve Borden

Biography

Steve Borden, who performed as Sting, is an American retired professional wrestler signed to All Elite Wrestling. Born in Omaha and raised in Southern California, Borden began wrestling in 1985 as Flash in the independent All-California Championship Wrestling, teaming with Jim Hellwig in Power Team USA. He became Sting after joining the Universal Wrestling Federation, and from 1987 he spent more than a decade with Jim Crockett Promotions and its successor World Championship Wrestling. There he won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in 1990, headlined Starrcade against Hulk Hogan in 1997, and collected 15 titles, including six WCW World Heavyweight Championship reigns. He later joined TNA in 2003, winning that promotion's world title four times and becoming its first Hall of Fame inductee in 2012. Borden moved to WWE in 2014 and headlined its Hall of Fame class in 2016. He signed with AEW in late 2020, won its tag team title with Darby Allin, and retired in March 2024.
