Stephen Shellen
Biography
Stephen Shellen is an actor who came of age in Victoria, British Columbia, as a star hockey player and then a lumberjack, until a Vancouver talent scout turned his attention to acting. Training with Peggy Feury after a move to Los Angeles, he became a regular presence in features such as The Stepfather (1987) and Casual Sex? (1988), and appeared in the miniseries Hollywood Wives (1985). He returned to Canada in the early 1990s to play Luke Brenner, one of three operatives battling terrorism, on Counterstrike (1990), and then starred in Stand Off (1994), a hostage drama that earned him critical raves. Other credits include A River Runs Through It (1992), Rude (1995), which took Best Canadian Feature Film at the Toronto International Film Festival and eight Genie nominations, guest roles on Law & Order and Due South, and a recurring part on La Femme Nikita that began airing in the United States in January 2001.
