Ry Barrett
Biography
Ry Barrett is a Canadian actor who moved from a music-heavy youth into film, having spent his teens and twenties playing in rock, alternative and punk bands before turning to acting in the early 2000s. Raised in Guelph, Ontario, and later based in Toronto, he got his start as the lead of the 2004 horror comedy Desperate Souls, a Lions Gate release that found worldwide distribution. Further genre work followed, including Psycho Ward, Dead Genesis and If A Tree Falls, which he also wrote and produced. His leading role in the psychological thriller Neverlost drew critical praise and a best actor prize at the 2011 Toronto International Film and Video Awards. Barrett has played heroes and villains across horror, action, drama and comedy, and has branched into producing and fight choreography, as well as writing and directing short films and music videos.
