Rosalind Harris

Born in White Plains, Rosalind Harris is an American actress who has worked in theater and film. She is best known for playing Tzeitel, Tevye's eldest daughter, in Fiddler on the Roof (1971). She took over that part in the Broadway musical after Bette Midler, and twenty years later played Golde in a touring revival of the same show. Her career included leading roles in musicals Off Broadway, in regional theater, and in stock. She played Aldonza in Man of La Mancha and Mama Rose in Gypsy, and took on Fanny Brice in ten productions of Funny Girl. On screen she played Fanny Brice in The Cotton Club (1984) and appeared in Woody Allen's Zelig. In 1996 she was Mrs. Lowenstein in the Hallmark television movie Mrs. Santa Claus (1996). A Mogen David Wine commercial featuring her as a female doctor won a Clio Award, and in 1993 she received a MAC Award nomination for the cabaret show Hollywood Opera.
