Rob Minkoff
Biography
Rob Minkoff is an American director, animator and producer who grew up in Palo Alto, California, studied character animation at the California Institute of the Arts, and counts Chuck Jones as a mentor. He began at Walt Disney Productions as an intern in 1982, then worked as an in-between artist on The Black Cauldron, a supervising animator on The Great Mouse Detective and a character animator on The Little Mermaid, and wrote the song Good Company for Oliver & Company. He directed several Roger Rabbit and Mickey Mouse shorts before co-directing The Lion King (1994) with Roger Allers, the film he is best known for. Live action followed with Stuart Little (1999), Stuart Little 2 (2002), The Haunted Mansion (2003) and The Forbidden Kingdom (2008), and he returned to animation with Mr. Peabody & Sherman (2014) and Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank (2022).
