Biography

Don Hahn is an American film producer known for his work on Disney animated features. Born in Chicago, he grew up in California and made his first animated shorts in high school. He began his career in animation at Disney, working on The Fox and the Hound, later serving as production manager on The Black Cauldron (1985) and associate producer on Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988). His breakthrough came as producer of Beauty and the Beast (1991), which won a Golden Globe and was the first animated film nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. He went on to produce The Lion King (1994), which also won a Golden Globe, The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996), Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001), and The Haunted Mansion (2003). He founded Stone Circle Pictures in 2008 and directed the documentary Waking Sleeping Beauty (2009). He has also executive produced Disneynature films and written books on animation.

    Don Hahn began his animation career as an assistant director to Disney Legend Wolfgang Reitherman on The Fox and the Hound.

    Hahn's first producer credit came in 1989 on Tummy Trouble, a Roger Rabbit short, where he produced alongside Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, and Frank Marshall.
