Ralph James
Biography
Ralph James was an American actor who worked mostly in voice and character parts in Los Angeles County, where he was born in 1924. He supplied voices for the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons at Warner Bros., though he seldom got screen credit because Mel Blanc was usually the only voice artist listed. One exception was his imitation of Walter Winchell, the narrator of The Untouchables, for Friz Freleng's 1963 parody short The Unmentionables. He voiced Mr. Turtle in Tootsie Pops commercials during the 1970s and played Orson, Mork's boss on the planet Ork, in Mork & Mindy from 1978 to 1982. He also voiced characters in the Pink Panther shorts made by DePatie-Freleng and took live roles in films such as Big Bad Mama (1974), Capone (1975) and Sixpack Annie (1975). He died in 1992.
