Peter Elliott
Biography
Peter Elliott is a British actor whose career has centered on ape and other animal roles. Born in Yorkshire in 1956, he trained as a Method actor at East 15 Acting School and initially pursued highly physical performance work, including acrobatics, martial arts and boxing. His ape specialization began in 1978 when he auditioned for Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes; he later served as head of research and development on that production and played Silverbeard. He went on to prominent Hollywood ape parts, including Missing Link (1988) and Buddy (1997), both title roles, and appeared under the giant ape suit in King Kong Lives (1986). His later career has mixed acting with movement direction, drama teaching and animal-role choreography, including work on Quest for Fire (1981), Congo (1995) and stage adaptations of The Jungle Book and Kensuke's Kingdom.
