Ole Ernst
Biography
Ole Ernst was a Danish actor of stage and screen who trained at Odense Teater, graduating in 1967 and joining the company as a stage actor soon afterwards. He made his debut as Chino in Westside Story (1965). In 1969 he left Odense Teater for Det Kongelige Teater, where he stayed until 1976, taking roles in classic plays, among them Hamlet, Amadeus, Jeppe På Bjerget and Erasmus Montanus. In 1973 he took the lead in Hans Kristensen's gangster film Flugten, followed by the sequels Per (1975) and Blind Makker (1976); the three films were popular and were later counted among the best Danish films, and the trilogy launched his career. He was regarded as among the finest actors of his era. His other films included Epidemic (1987). In 1994 he was re-hired by Det Kongelige Teater. He died in 2013.
