Nigel Lindsay
Biography
Born in St John's Wood and raised in North West London, Nigel Lindsay is an English actor who began in theater before moving into film and television. His early London stage work included playing the French king in King Lear at the Royal Court and Mugsy in Dealer's Choice at the National Theatre. On screen he is known for Barry in Four Lions (2010), a role that earned him a 2011 British Comedy Award nomination, and for Ron Baker in Rogue Trader (1999). He also appeared in Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa (2013) and on television as Sir Robert Peel in Victoria and Jo Jo Marshall in Safe. In theater he was nominated for an Olivier Award in 2012 for the title role in Shrek the Musical and won a Whatsonstage Award for Broken Glass. He later appeared in The Lehman Trilogy in the West End.

Early training
Lindsay picked the Webber Douglas Academy's two-year drama course and earned the Amherst Webber Scholarship. Michael Fry directed his finals show, where he played Charley's Aunt, and gave him his first professional job with Great Eastern Stage, a Lincolnshire touring company.
A change of course
Lindsay worked three years as a financial analyst after university, covering French and Belgian equities for London stockbrokers Savory Milln and Swiss Bank Corporation. He left the city and earned spots at both bar school and drama school, which began on the same day.
A first
In 2021, Lindsay first performed at Ireland's National Theatre, the Abbey Theatre, in Brian Friel's Faith Healer, sharing the stage with Niamh Cusack and Aidan Gillen.
