Naya Rivera
Biography
Naya Rivera was an American actress, singer and model who began performing as a child, appearing in national commercials before winning the part of Hillary Winston on the CBS sitcom The Royal Family at age four, a role that earned her a Young Artist Award nomination. Her breakthrough came with Santana Lopez on Fox's musical series Glee in 2009, a character she played as a series regular and one that brought her a SAG Award and ALMA Awards, plus cast nominations for a Grammy and a Brit Award. She signed with Columbia Records in 2011 and released the single Sorry in 2013. Her screen work included the horror film At the Devil's Door (2014), the comedy Mad Families (2017) and the voice of Catwoman in Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One (2021) and Part Two (2021). She also appeared on Step Up: High Water and wrote a 2016 memoir.

A role that slipped away
Rivera was considered for Katniss Everdeen during early work on the 2012 Hunger Games movie, but she did not get the part. She was later a favorite for Johanna Mason in the sequel Catching Fire, which she said she "would love to play".
Big break
In 2009, Naya Rivera joined Fox's musical comedy Glee as Santana Lopez, a high school cheerleader. She won the part after auditioning for the chance to sing, dance and act in one show, and she used her own unpopular high school years to get ready.
