Max Elliott Slade
Biography
Max Elliott Slade is an actor who was born into a family of actors and began performing as a child. At eight he played the young Gil Buckman, Steve Martin's character, in Ron Howard's comedy Parenthood (1989), and he later joined the Parenthood television series as Gil's son Kevin. He became best known as Colt in the martial arts films 3 Ninjas (1992), 3 Ninjas Kick Back (1994) and 3 Ninjas Knuckle Up (1995), roles that combined his acting with the karate he had studied since he was five; no other actor appeared in all three. At fourteen he worked with Ron Howard again, playing Tom Hanks' screen son in Apollo 13 (1995), then took his final child acting role in the independent action film The Sweeper (1996). He stepped away from acting at fifteen to concentrate on school, eventually earning an anthropology degree from USC, and he later chose to return to the film industry.
