Martina Laird

Martina Laird is a Trinidadian British actress who works across stage, film and television. Born in Port of Spain, she moved to the United Kingdom at seventeen and trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art after first studying French at the University of Kent. She began on stage before landing the role of Comfort in the BBC drama Casualty, which she played for several years, and she went on to appear in Holby City and EastEnders. Her theater work includes Sophia in Errol John's Moon on a Rainbow Shawl at the Royal National Theatre in 2012 and Marcus Gardley's The House that Will Not Stand at the Tricycle Theatre in 2014, and she performed in seven Shakespeare plays in 2016 and 2017. She appeared in August Wilson's King Hedley II in 2019 and in a 2023 revival of Mustapha Matura's Meetings. Her writing debut, Driftwood, was produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company.
